During the past week we have launched new plugins for Klarna. It’s about two new plugins that eventually are going to replace Klarna for WooCommerce. The new plugins are Klarna Checkout for WooCommerce and Klarna Payments for WooCommerce. These plugins is for Klarnas platform version 3.
What’s the difference between Klarna Checkout and Klarna Payments?
Klarna Checkout is what it sounds like, a complete checkout experience from Klarna. It’s an iframe based checkout that to a large extent replaces WooCommerce own checkout. The customer identifies with personal number and ZIP and then decides how they want to pay, either with credit- or debit card, invoice, direct payment or installment. The big news with the new plugin is that it supports Klarnas global checkout feature, this mean that your checkout is available for customers from more than 160 countries around the world.
Klarna Payments, on the other hand, is displayed like a regular payment method in the standard checkout. You choose which payment methods you offer your customers. Choose between invoice, direct payment, credit/debit card or installment.
What will happen to Klarna for WooCommerce (V2)?
Klarna for WooCommerce will still exist during a period of time, since many still uses the plugin. Over time it will be replaced with either Klarna Checkout or Klarna Payments. Krokedil will still give support if needed but will not be doing any further development on the plugin.
If you want to know more about how to get started with any of the new plugins? Here you can find out more.
